Thinking Path Studio

We create film, sound and storytelling for cultural and heritage organisations.

Capturing the stories that connect people and places.

We create films for cultural and heritage organisations that reveal the stories, people and experiences behind places. Through documentary, sound and original composition, we help audiences understand what makes a place meaningful.

Our clients include Canal and River Trust, Women’s Aid, Lloyds Register Foundation and many more.

We create films that give people a reason to visit.

01

People, Volunteer and Visitor Stories

No matter what the venue or site, we always find staff, volunteers and visitors with incredibly relevant and engaging stories.

These stories make up a powerful narrative and can really aid cultural engagement. So, we find these stories, capture them and create films that can have lasting impact on social media, web and in-situ, exhibitions and galleries.

02

Venue and Event Film

Capturing the feeling and atmosphere of a venue, event or a wildcard of your choice! No crazy fast, jarring edits (unless that’s really what’s needed!) but elegant, engaging and sometimes meditative films to really give people a reason to visit.

03

Site Specific Film and Sound

It’s easy to show a place, space, event but still not quite get an idea of what it feels like to be there. We capture site specific sounds. For example on a walking tour next to a canal, it might be rushing water, birdsong, locks being opened and closed, the crunch of walking boots on a gravel footpath.

This creates a more immersive experience for potential visitors and another compelling reason to visit!

Case Study: Canal & River Trust

Multi-site interpretation project for Canal & River Trust

We were commissioned to create a series of films across multiple Canal & River Trust locations, each reflecting a different aspect of the organisation’s waterways, infrastructure, and community activity.

The project included:

  • Volunteer-led narrative films.
  • Social media walking tour content.
  • Site-specific audiovisual pieces featuring original sound design and composition.

Each film was produced in-house, from filming and editing through to colour grading and original music.

The work supported engagement across digital platforms while reflecting the living heritage of the waterways.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, UNESCO World Heritage Site

A short documentary exploring the experiences of two volunteers and their connection to this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Through personal stories and original music, the film highlights the role volunteers play in sustaining the site while offering audiences a deeper understanding of its cultural and community value.

Created to support volunteer engagement, retention and visitor interest.

Caen Hill Locks
Walking Tour

A sensory-led promotional film following a volunteer guide through the historic Caen Hill Locks.

Built around an original soundscape created from location recordings, the film offers audiences a glimpse of the experience itself. It captures the atmosphere, landscape and character of the site without narration.

Created for digital and social channels to encourage participation and site visits.

Diglis Island & Fish Pass

A short-form film capturing the unique landscape, wildlife and waterways of Diglis Island and Fish Pass in Worcester.

The film was created to showcase the character of the site, promote the walking tour to visitors and to increase visibility and encourage visits.

Our Approach

We believe that meaningful engagement begins with understanding what makes a place matter.

Every project starts by finding the stories, people and experiences that give a location its character. Whether through volunteer voices, guided experiences, heritage interpretation or the atmosphere of a landscape, our aim is to create films that help audiences connect with places and spaces.

From planning and filming through to editing, sound design and music composition, every stage of production is handled in-house. Original music and location-based sound recordings form an important part of the process, allowing each project to develop its own distinct voice and sense of place.

Whether supporting visitor engagement, volunteer recruitment, event promotion or wider public participation, we work closely with organisations to understand how a film will be used and who it is intended to reach.
